The decline of tourism in Bahia, in recent years, is fact. Despite the proclamations and propaganda of the state and municipal governments.
Salvador of Bahia is filthy, full of beggars, the city is financially bankrupt, with high rates of violence. And the Pelourinho is a visible sign of decline.
